Sittership

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 18, 2026

Sittership (“Sittership,” “we,” “us”) is a private, invite-only tool that helps a household coordinate babysitting with the sitters it already knows and approves. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Information we collect

  • Account information from our authentication provider when you sign up: your name, email address, and (if you provide it) phone number and profile image.
  • Household information you enter: household name, home address, time zone, and the first names, birthdates, and private care notes of the children in your household.
  • Coordination content: sitting requests and offers (dates, times, pay, notes), invitations you send, and the status of bookings.
  • Device tokens for sending push notifications to your device, if you allow notifications.
  • Operational logs needed to run the service securely and diagnose errors. We do not collect analytics for advertising.

How we use information

  • To operate the core service: posting needs, notifying your approved sitters, and confirming bookings.
  • To send transactional messages such as invitations, new-request alerts, and booking confirmations.
  • To keep your account secure and to detect, prevent, and address abuse or technical problems.

How information is shared

Sittership is built around household isolation. A child's private care notes and your home address are shared only with household admins and the sitter who is confirmed for a specific job — never with other notified sitters or other households. We share data with service providers strictly to operate the app (authentication, database hosting, email, and Apple Push Notification service). We never sell personal information.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen on web or iOS (or by contacting us). When you delete your account, we remove your personal information and the households you own, including children's details and care notes, and we revoke your device tokens. Some records may persist briefly in encrypted backups before being overwritten.

Children's privacy

Sittership is intended for use by adults (parents, guardians, and the sitters they approve). It is not directed to children, and children do not create accounts. Any information about a child is entered by a household adult to coordinate care.

What Sittership is not

Sittership does not vet, certify, or background-check sitters. Households approve their own sitters and are responsible for those decisions.

Your choices

  • You can edit or delete household and child details at any time in the app.
  • You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
  • You can delete your account and associated data from the Profile screen on web or iOS.
